Zero email marketing experience. The Right mindset. Head of Email Marketing in 4 years - Kilo

Vladislav Stankevičius’ story about the kind of growth that doesn’t happen by accident.

You left Kiloverse. Then came back. Why?

I tried corporate work and worked abroad. But it wasn’t so exciting. I was hungry for results. So I came back, and I like it here.

How does a customer support specialist become Head of Email Marketing, with no background in it?

I am a hungry learner. I like to test everything. I made it my mission to understand every layer of email marketing — from the technical side to data, design, copy, strategy, and automations. You need to be versatile and willing to go deep on all of it. This helped me to become a Senior Email Marketing Manager, and six months ago, that journey led me to the Head of Email Marketing.

What people don’t see behind Email Marketing?

Everyone sees just a nice email. Nobody sees everything behind it:

  • A beautiful email means nothing if it lands in spam — and staying out of spam is a deeply technical craft.
  • Or if the copy doesn’t speak to the right person.
  • Or if the design isn’t built around real data about who’s reading it.

Our team uses insights from 10 million global customers, and we have a genuinely exceptional Data team. On top of that: strategy, automations, and knowing exactly which email drove the sale. All of it matters.

What was your biggest breakthrough moment at Kiloverse?

I had this idea: what if each email looked like (not only sounded like) it was built for that specific person. Not generic. Designed like it actually knows you and your health goals.

I pushed for the design-first approach a year ago. Result? Revenue from email marketing grew 4 times.

That’s what “bring your best self” means to me — not accepting the way things are done just because they’ve always been done that way.

“Breakthrough moments come from: discipline, knowing your craft deeply enough to see what others miss, and from being willing to bet on your own idea.”

What was the biggest lesson you’ve learned here?

Early on, when the company was going through major changes, I found myself on a new team. I care deeply about results — that’s just who I am — and it was showing in the wrong way. Then I got feedback I’d never received before: “You’re demotivating your team.”

Total shock. I thought I was setting a standard. But that feedback was one of the best things that happened to me.

“Skills and expertise are nice, but what you bring to the team as a person is way more important.”

Now I focus on bringing energy, motivation, and a clear reminder of why we’re all here: to own the result.

What’s the next challenge in front of you now?

Kilo CEO Žygimantas Surintas has a vision where Kiloverse is the top-tier launchpad for businesses looking to scale. To get there, he’s given us a clear goal: make our email marketing universal. We’re crafting a foundation that isn’t just for today’s products — it’s built to embrace five, ten, or twenty new global brands down the line. It’s about making sure that as the Kilo portfolio grows, our impact only gets stronger.

Most of the Email Marketing Team is remote, spread across Europe. And honestly — I’m proud of them. They’re reliable, they take ownership, and every day, we show up and bring our best selves.

That’s what happens when you don’t stop at the ceiling — you find out there wasn’t one.
